Senior Mobile Engineer

Our panel is one of the most diverse and responsive in the industry. As the research world shifts rapidly, demand for high-quality participants is growing fast. Respondent is well-positioned to meet that demand, helping companies run better, faster research at scale. We’re a lean global team of ~30 people across Sydney, Manila, and the U.S. We’ve recently become profitable and we are ramping up to accelerate growth. We have already made the leap from 0 to 1 - this is a rare chance to help us take it from 1 to 10 The role: You’ll be joining our Sydney team as our first Mobile Engineer, taking the lead on building Respondent’s mobile app for millions of participants around the world. This is an in-office role where you’ll be a key part of a lean, fast-moving engineering team - so we’re looking for someone who’s genuinely excited about collaborating in person. You’ll own a greenfield project – designing and developing a mobile app that redefines how our participants discover and apply for research studies. You’ll work closely with a world-class product designer to craft a mobile experience that’s genuinely loved by our customers. This role is perfect for an engineer who’s passionate about creating great products, moving fast, and seeing their work in the hands of real users. What You'll Do: Own and build Respondent’s first mobile app: Lead the end-to-end development of our new React Native app, working with Product and Design to craft a fast, intuitive experience that helps millions of participants discover, apply for, and track research projects. Work across the stack: While your focus will be mobile, you’ll have the flexibility to create your own APIs and integrations when needed – bonus if you have experience with back-end technologies like Nest.js. Raise the quality bar: Write clean, maintainable code, streamline our tools and processes, and continually improve how we build and ship new features. Work at the edge of AI: We’re actively using AI in our dev workflows and our product – you’ll have opportunities to experiment with how it can enhance the mobile experience. What you’ll bring: Mobile expertise: You have solid experience building and shipping mobile apps – ideally in React Native – and understand what it takes to create smooth, responsive, and scalable user experiences across iOS and Android. Full-stack curiosity: You’re comfortable diving into back-end code when needed – you know your way around APIs, or you’re eager to learn. Experience with Nest.js or similar frameworks is a big plus. Builder’s mindset: You’ve delivered real products or features – whether at work, in a side project, or something you put out there yourself. You care about building products that customers love, not just writing code. Adaptability: You are comfortable in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, and can figure things out when the path isn’t fully defined. Quick learner: You have a growth mindset and can quickly learn new languages, tools and frameworks. Collaboration and communication: You can work cross-functionally with Design, Product and other Engineers, and you’re comfortable giving and receiving candid feedback to help the team build the best solution.
