Melaythenner Teeackana Warrana (Heart of Country) Aboriginal Corporation – Launceston TAS We seek an adventurous and highly motivated leader to join our team in delivering an innovative training and development project that supports significant land management. The successful applicant should have a strong desire to support for-purpose training for Aboriginal rangers to advance in their careers. You will be working directly with Management, Directors and Elders and Community groups to identify, develop and deliver targeted training. This role will underpin a number of projects to develop an enduring solution to closing the gap for Aboriginal people in our community. Our ideal candidate will be practical, organised and committed to working alongside Aboriginal people and caring for Country. This position involves regular travel and will suit someone who has a deep respect for Aboriginal culture and for Country. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall management of the program including the planning of the program’s implementation, engagement with stakeholders, managing the staff involved and monitoring and evaluating the program’s progress. The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate quality documentation and reporting compliance and be able to maintain a good relationship with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Planning & Development of Tebrakunna Rangers Program and other initiatives. Reporting on program outcomes to meet funding requrements Infrastructure development to secure operational equipment necessary for the program Reviewing and developing policies and procedures required to support the program Recruiting, supervising and supporting staff in program the role overseas Development of commercial programs for the organisation in collaboration with the Rangers Foster positive relationships with stakeholders, such as Elders, government agencies, funding bodies, research institutions whilst promoting collaboration and maximising opportunities for MTWAC. About You: We’re looking for someone who is: Deeply respectful of Tasmanian Aboriginal culture and protocols Organised, reliable, and able to manage logistics and reporting Committed to cultural safety and inclusion Unrestricted Driver’s License (manual licence considered an advantage) Working With Vulnerable People Registration (or ability to obtain) Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of or experience in cultural land management or leading a team of rangers or land management staff across land and/or sea country; including developing management plans and program reporting.
