This role reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Operations) and is offered as a full-time on-going appointment.

About the opportunity
The Chief Risk Officer is a newly created position and is responsible for managing the University’s strategic and operational risk governance framework. This includes, risk policy, risk appetite and risk limits/tolerances, risk governance, infrastructure, process, and reporting and risk integration and connection of enterprise and operational risks. A key element to this role is to develop a positive risk-aware culture and embed enterprise and integrated risk management across the University. The Chief Risk Officer manages the University’s insurance, safety, health & wellbeing, business continuity, internal audit, integrity & standards unit, and risk & compliance functions.
About you
As an experienced risk professional, you will have demonstrated experience in leading a sophisticated risk management function and risk assurance program in a complex, large, and diverse organisation.
In addition to the above, the successful applicant will demonstrate:
• Postgraduate qualifications and/or extensive relevant experience; or proven expertise in risk and program management.• Demonstrated capacity to develop risk strategies and principles informed by contemporary best practice.• Extensive experience and proven track record in delivering successful risk-related programs, initiatives, and projects on time and within budget.• Highly developed stakeholder relationship management abilities including success in working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and fostering creditability at all levels.• Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with university leaders.• Excellent written communication skills, including high level communications and documentation e.g. proposals, briefing papers, reports to senior executives and the proven ability to develop plans aligned to strategy.
