Principal Ab Initio Developer

About the Role: As the Principal Developer, you will act as a senior technical expert within the Ab Initio environment—leading development activities, providing guidance to others, and ensuring best-practice delivery across the platform. This role will play a key part in moving legacy data pipelines onto the Ab Initio platform to support new European regulatory requirements, including Netherlands AnaCredit. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a senior SME for Ab Initio across the program. Lead the design, build, analysis, and testing of Ab Initio applications. Set up and configure new environments and platform instances. Create deployment and configuration scripts for all environments, including production. Provide production support and troubleshooting as a second-line escalation point. Enhance performance and optimise existing code and workflows. Mentor and support junior and mid-level developers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Required Skills & Experience: 10+ years’ experience working with Ab Initio in the financial services sector. Strong hands-on expertise with core Ab Initio components, including:GDE Control Centre Express>IT (BRE) Co>Operating System Conduct>It Enterprise Meta>Environment (EME) Continuous>Flows Advanced SQL skills (Oracle/MySQL) and solid Unix experience. Proven background in deploying, maintaining, and optimising Ab Initio solutions. Excellent communication skills and strong analytical capability. Skilled in stakeholder management, coordination, and collaboration. Experience working within Agile methodologies and using JIRA. Innovative, solution-focused approach.
