Step into a pivotal role as Registry Data Lead, where you'll drive the strategy for data access, quality and governance across ASIC's business registers and the broader Registry & Intelligence Group. Collaborating with teams from Legal Services to Data, Analytics and AI, you'll champion enterprise-wide data governance and deliver on ASIC's mission to provide accessible, reliable register data that empowers smarter decisions for stakeholders. Location – Sydney, Melbourne or Traralgon Salary starting from $152,074 (depending on experience) plus 15.4% superannuation Permanent role Applications close at 11:59pm AEST Wednesday, 17 December 2025 The team Our Registry & Intelligence team provide trusted data, insights and frontline services that help Australians make informed decisions and participate confidently in the economy. ASIC manages over 30 legal registers, including the Companies and Business Names registers, which hold details of more than 3.2 million companies and 2.7 million business names. These registers are the official source of business information, relied on by businesses, professionals, government and the public. Whether starting a company, updating details, or searching for information, users count on us for accurate data and support. The role As a Registry Data Lead, you will Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies and standards aligned with ASIC's enterprise approach. Develop and maintain registry data taxonomy, definitions and quality rules to ensure accurate and reliable data. Lead data quality strategy and annual action plans to improve processes and resolve issues. Drive the use of registry data for intelligence and regulatory decision-making across ASIC. Oversee data stewardship, governance and secure access to sensitive public and non-public data assets. Establish reporting mechanisms, risk controls and compliance practices for data governance. Provide expert advice on registry data governance and manage strategic relationships with key stakeholders. About You Proven experience (5+ years) in data governance, risk or related functions. Strong knowledge of data management tools, data architecture, metadata and governance frameworks. Understanding of legal and policy frameworks for data strategy and compliance. Experience managing data in regulated or commercial environments, leading teams and building stakeholder relationships. Tertiary qualification in data science, technology, or business with a data governance focus. Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts and influence decisions.
