This isn't a \"configure and forget\" IDAM role. If your experience is mostly one platform (Okta, SailPoint, etc.) or shallow scripting, this isn't the gig. If, however, you're a razor-sharp security / software engineer who can defend design choices, explain trade-offs, and dig into authentication and access management under the hood... keep reading. You are likely familiar with the below, and you'll need to be to succeed in a role like this. Requirements & Skills Deep knowledge of authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC) and explaining when one is safer than another. Implementation of JIT privileged access without needing a step-by-step guide. Spotting security issues in code, and writing good code yourself: no cleartext passwords, proper token handling, MFA, etc. Thinking through high-security or air-gapped environments and proposing practical solutions, inc. across HSM deployment (as just one example). Influencing engineering teams with confident, technically sound recommendations. Comfortable with modern app security, containers, IaC, and a Linux-first environment. Making decisions and taking action even when all requirements aren't fully defined. Benefits Base salary up to $190k + super. Your impact Protect high value systems across users, devices, and products. Automate access processes without introducing new security risks. Shape and influence ZeroTrust strategy and identity program across teams. Take ownership of ambiguous problems and design solutions that actually get implemented. Your typical day (although no two days are alike) Automate access requests for internal staff across EntraID and SaaS apps. Design and implement Just-in-Time privileged access. Build robust audit logging for internal applications. Review and influence identity designs across engineering teams. Contribute to the ZeroTrust strategy and advocate for change. Manage multiple concurrent projects and solve cross-product problems. Brass tacks This role needs an engineer who thinks like a security engineer first, implements like a software engineer second, and acts like a decision-maker at all times. You’ll be shaping systems impacting employees and customers alike.
