The Role We’re looking for a proactive, product-focused Java Engineer who’s excited to take on multiple responsibilities and ship features that bring joy to users and value to restaurants. You’ll join a team where you can have real influence, wide scope, and room to grow in a fun and rewarding environment. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, designing and building advanced features and systems in Java, mentoring and influencing team members, improving application performance, and continuously improving application and code quality. What You'll Bring Years of experience as an Engineer working in Java backend development Strong experience with building serverless APIs Strong understanding of Software Development principles Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Experience with both building and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query tuning (MySQL, Postgres, etc.) Solid experience and excellent grasp in performance tuning and debugging Comfortable working in Git Proficient in automated testing and writing testable code Familiar with modern app architectures and design patterns Excellent verbal and written communication skills A mentoring and influencing mindset A proactive mindset, ready to roll up your sleeves Bonus Points If You… Have experience with AWS (S3, AppSync, API Gateway, Lambda, etc.) Have experience in building automated CI/CD pipelines Love food, restaurants, and dining out Qualifications Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline A minimum of 3–5 years of commercial experience as an Engineer working in Java Full working rights in Australia Employment details Seniority level: Mid-Senior level Employment type: Full-time Job function: Engineering and Information Technology Industries: Hospitality If you're looking for a role where you can do your best work, make a visible impact, grow your career, and work with great humans, then we'd love to hear from you.
