If this sounds like you, we have an exciting opportunity for you This opportunity comes in the form of our newly developed Resource Data Scientist role, a role which has been designed to develop and maintain high quality standards for forest resource data management. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge in the field of statistics including regression analysis and sampling methods. Demonstrated knowledge in machine learning including supervised and unsupervised learning (e.g. linear regression, decision trees, clustering), model evaluation and model tuning. Demonstrated knowledge in data wrangling and data cleaning including handling missing data, normalising, formatting and combining datasets. Knowledge and experience with data visualization tools and an understanding of best practice for presenting data through graphs, dashboards and reports. Technical skills with programming and database languages including Python, R, and SQL. Experience with management of large datasets in a cloud environment such as MS Azure. Experience handling geospatial data in the ESRI GIS suite and interest in remote sensing data including satellite imagery and airborne LiDAR. Desirable qualification: A degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Forestry, Environmental Science, Geospatial Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline. Desirable qualification: Unrestricted “C” class drivers’ licence. At least three years’ relevant work experience in a data science, statistics, forest resource planning, biometrician, geospatial or similar field.
