Principal OT Cyber Security Specialist – Major Infrastructure Project Brisbane | Large Critical Infrastructure Environment | Hybrid (up to 50% WFH) Contract until 1st May 2026 with potential extensions A leading, fully integrated infrastructure organisation is seeking a Principal OT Cyber Security Specialist to support a major operational technology transformation project within a high-profile, safety-critical environment. This role offers the chance to work on large-scale OT/ICS systems that are essential to the state’s communities and industries. This is a key position responsible for strengthening cyber resilience across complex Operational Technology and Industrial Control Systems (OT/ICS), driving uplift, and ensuring secure, reliable operations. Base pay range A$170.00/hr - A$200.00/hr What You’ll Do Provide expert technical guidance to ensure OT cyber security controls, processes and practices are designed, implemented and maintained effectively. Manage, report and escalate OT cyber security risks while supporting incident response activities. Monitor emerging OT/ICS technologies, industry developments and best practices to uplift cyber capability. Contribute to the development and improvement of OT cyber security architecture across the organisation. Develop and recommend cyber security strategies, policies, procedures and processes. Lead the design, development, testing, installation and maintenance of cyber security initiatives aligned with standards and industry best practice. Supervise and coordinate internal teams and contractors to deliver secure, efficient outcomes. What You Bring Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work autonomously, apply professional judgement and drive cyber security best practice. Experience developing and improving secure OT architectures. Demonstrated capability in assessing threats, evaluating controls and ensuring effective risk mitigation. Knowledge of emerging OT cyber security technologies and approaches. Commitment to positive workplace behaviours and organisational values. Mandatory Requirements Strong knowledge and hands‑on implementation of IEC 62443 within control systems. Degree in engineering or equivalent industry qualification. 5+ years’ experience in cyber security. Highly Desirable Experience in rail, power, transport or other critical infrastructure sectors. Background in systems engineering. Data networking experience. RPEQ accreditation.
