About The Opportunity The Information Management and Technology team provides secure Information Technology services. The Cyber Security Engineer coordinates and delivers cybersecurity design, support, engineering, and advisory services for safe and secure implementation of ICT projects across the Institute. Responsibilities Coordinate and deliver cybersecurity design and support for ICT projects, ensuring safe and secure implementations. Manage and respond to critical cybersecurity incidents, prioritising tasks and communicating with stakeholders. Use security tools to detect, investigate and remediate threats. Apply cybersecurity controls and risk assessment across the IT project life‑cycle. Present analysis and reports, and devise innovative solutions to complex challenges. Collaborate with key stakeholders and customers to achieve optimal business outcomes. Essential Requirements Demonstrated experience and record of achievement in cybersecurity and qualifications in ICT and security, or equivalent, with internationally recognised qualifications and/or certifications applied in practice. Includes experience of public and private cloud and knowledge of cloud security. Experience using security tools to detect, investigate and remediate. Proficiency in cybersecurity controls and risk assessment across the IT project life‑cycle, with evidence of application. Well‑developed analytical skills to analyse and interpret complex information, exercise independent judgement, prepare and present analysis and reports, deal with challenges creatively, and achieve business‑focused innovative solutions. Organisational skills and experience working in a high‑volume and demanding professional environment. Interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with experience engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders and customers. Knowledge of security compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, Essential 8). Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, DevSecOps or related, Information Security, or a related field. ISACA CISSP, CISM, CEH or CompTIA Security+ highly regarded. Pre‑Screening Questions Describe a specific project where you coordinated and delivered cybersecurity design and support. Outline the challenges, actions taken, and outcomes. Explain an experience managing a critical cybersecurity incident. How did you prioritise tasks, communicate with stakeholders, and minimize disruption? Describe tools and methods used to detect, investigate and remediate.
