Senior Project Manager – Rail SMEC invites applications for a Senior Project Manager – Rail to oversee the full project life cycle of major rail infrastructure projects. The position is based in Brisbane and will support projects locally and nationally. Key Accountabilities Provide project management and governance of complex projects to achieve reliable project performance in terms of commercial outcomes, design solutions, timeliness and quality. Source, build and maintain strong and effective client relationships through successful project delivery and targeted activities. Provide leadership to project employees to ensure team cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development. Collaborate proactively with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and coordination of deliverables. Contribute to commercial success of projects and active participation in business development activities. Qualifications Local experience successfully delivering major rail infrastructure projects in Queensland. 15+ years of experience managing civil infrastructure projects of $1m+ in budget and client specifications. Degree qualified in an engineering discipline. Registered Chartered Engineer (CPEng / RPEQ) with competencies with the Queensland and national rail agencies; prior work on Queensland rail projects is advantageous. Extensive experience managing, designing and delivering complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects of national significance. Proven ability to lead, motivate, manage, develop and resourcing high-performing teams. Strong track record of monitoring and managing scope and risk of multiple complex projects. Proficiency with business systems for project management. Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with key clients and stakeholders; demonstrable client cost savings and community issue prevention. Superior stakeholder engagement resulting in project outcomes meeting or exceeding client expectations.
