Institute for Molecular Bioscience Full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to December 2027 Base salary will be in the range $82,057.75 - $109,246.18 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A) Base salary will be in the range $114,824.05 - $136,048.72 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level B) Based at St Lucia Campus About This Opportunity Join us in applying cutting‑edge statistical genetics to uncover the genetic and environmental aetiology of complex traits and diseases using large-scale cohorts and datasets. Our focus spans maternal health, early‑life genetics, and how intrauterine and early‑life exposures shape future disease risk. At Level A, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your expertise and build an emerging research profile within your discipline. At Level B, as a Research Fellow, you’ll take your research to the next level—advancing your expertise and strengthening your profile to achieve national recognition. At both levels, you’ll also contribute to service and engagement activities, collaborating with peers and stakeholders to foster a vibrant research community. Key responsibilities will include: Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. Academic Level B (in addition to Level A Responsibilities) Teaching: Where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is undertaken achieve teaching quality as indicated by approved surveys and outcomes for students and improve or innovate where appropriate in response to feedback. About You Researched Focus Academic at Level A Completion or near completion of a PhD in Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, or Epidemiology. An emerging profile in research in the discipline area. Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding. Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities Researched Focused Academic at Level B Completion of a PhD in Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, or Epidemiology. A growing profile in research in the discipline area. A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding. A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion. Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check.
