Board members are collectively responsible for: Providing strategic direction and long‑term oversight Ensuring high standards of governance, compliance, and risk management Upholding the organisation’s mission, values, and consumer‑centred care philosophy Supporting the organisation through sector reform, regulatory change, and growth Monitoring organisational performance, quality, and financial sustainability Desired Attributes and Capabilities Strategic thinking with the ability to contribute at a whole‑of‑organisation level Strong governance experience or readiness to operate at board level Sound judgement, independence, and integrity The ability to work constructively within a collegiate board environment Commitment to ethical leadership and continuous improvement Alignment with the purpose and challenges of the aged care sector Legal expertise is a highly valued attribute for board members to ensure sound governance and compliance with regulatory requirements Priority Skills and Experience EOIs are welcomed from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Aged care, health, disability, or community services Financial management, accounting, or audit Risk, compliance, or quality and safety Clinical governance or consumer experience Strategy, transformation, or change management Digital health, technology, or data governance Government, regulation, or public policy Legal, litigation, or regulatory governance Industrial relations, workplace reform, or employment framework Lived experience or strong understanding of consumer‑directed care and older Australians’ needs is highly regarded. Expectations of Board Members Prepare for and attend scheduled board and committee meetings Act in the best interests of the organisation at all times Comply with all governance, confidentiality, and conflict‑of‑interest requirements Participate in ongoing board development and performance review processes Applicants must be willing to undergo relevant probity checks and meet any regulatory requirements applicable to board appointments in the aged care sector.
