Project Leader – Public Sector (Defence) BCG ANZ is growing and we are seeking experienced consultants to join our Public Sector and Industrial Goods teams at the Project Leader level. Qualified individuals will play a critical role in enriching project work and bringing forward‑thinking solutions to clients across large‑scale delivery programmes in the public and private sector, including Defence. We work with some of the most senior and influential people in government all over the world and help governments maximise public‑policy outcomes, offering unique opportunities to shape the future of public sector reform across the globe. Locations: Canberra | Sydney What You'll Do We are looking for a Project Leader to join our collaborative, diverse, high‑performing, and fast‑growing Public Sector team. You will lead the delivery of research, insight, and answer development for each engagement, coach and mentor team members, and actively engage BCG’s global network to leverage the best of BCG expertise and knowledge for the client. You will act as the connecting tissue between the client, the delivery team, and the BCG global network, managing day‑to‑day delivery, generating insight and value for the client and ensuring that they understand, buy‑in, and can transfer capabilities to their teams. You will design an approach, manage a team to execute, build relationships with clients, and ensure tangible impact for each engagement. Who You'll Work With Some of the core qualifications and experience that we look for include: 6‑8+ years of relevant work experience, ideally 2‑3 years in industry and/or management consulting aligned to Public Sector or Defence topics or large‑scale capital delivery in industrial goods Dedicated experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: acquisition program delivery, strategy formulation & execution, complex scenario analysis and problem solving, climate & sustainability, people & organisation, complex organisational change, future of work, experience leading and managing high‑performing case/project teams Strong analytical skills, problem‑solving ability, and conceptual thinking Excellent communication, storytelling, client‑facing and consulting skills Willingness to challenge the status quo, leveraging both government/defence and private‑sector expertise to drive performance improvement Minimum of a bachelor’s degree Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain an AGSVA clearance Flexibility to travel interstate or internationally as required Additional Information We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, connected, empowered to be themselves and contribute to their fullest potential.
