BMS Controls Technician

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated BMS Service Technician to join our team on the Central Coast, ensuring the optimal performance of our clients' building management and control systems. The Controls Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality, performance, and efficiency of building management and controls systems. This role involves installing, programming, commissioning, and maintaining a variety of systems including HVAC controls, lighting systems, access control, and security systems. Key Responsibilities System Installation: Install and configure building management and controls systems according to design specifications, wiring diagrams, and installation plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Programming and Configuration: Program controllers, sensors, actuators, and other system components to perform desired functions, and configure software settings to optimise system performance and efficiency. Commissioning and Testing: Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of installed systems to verify functionality, calibrate sensors and devices, and troubleshoot any issues or discrepancies to ensure optimal performance. System Integration: Integrate building management and controls systems with other building systems, such as HVAC, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems, to enable seamless communication and coordination between systems. Client Training and Support: Provide training to clients and end‑users on system operation, functionality, and maintenance procedures, and offer ongoing technical support and assistance as needed. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of installation activities, programming changes, test results, and system configurations, and provide regular progress reports and updates to project stakeholders. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment, including proper handling of electrical components, compliance with relevant codes and regulations, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Required Qualifications & Experience Proven track record in the installation, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of Building Management and Control Systems (BMCS). Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls theory, and system integration principles, ensuring efficient and reliable building automation performance. Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LONworks. Proficient with leading building automation software platforms, including Tridium Niagara, Distech Controls, and Trend Controls. Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues quickly and effectively. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, enabling close collaboration with project teams, clients, and contractors. Holds a Restricted Electrical Licence and a valid driver’s licence, with flexibility to travel to various project sites as required. Willing to participate in on‑call and after‑hours work, with applicable allowances and overtime arrangements. Experienced in providing technical support and end‑user training, ensuring clients can confidently operate and maintain BMS systems. Competent in preparing service documentation, including maintenance records, technical reports, and quotation submissions.
