Overview Join to apply for the Assistant newsletters editor/writer role at Guardian Australia Guardian Australia is part of Guardian News & Media (GNM), publisher of theguardian.com. As a leading global media organisation, we are renowned for our pioneering independent journalism and our award-winning digital products. We are seeking an assistant newsletters editor/writer to join our international team, to edit and update First Edition, Guardian UK’s flagship morning newsletter (about half of this job) as well as assisting in the writing and production of Guardian Australia-produced newsletters. This role is being offered on a full-time 12 month contract, working early starts or late finishes. This role is open to candidates based in Sydney. In this role you will… Edit and produce, update and send First Edition during the UK’s night. Use sound editorial judgment to decide if First Edition needs a full rewrite due to breaking news, and action this in discussion with Sydney international editor. Work closely with the UK newsletters editors, writers, production staff and designers on First Edition. Work on and develop Guardian Australia’s portfolio of newsletters - including writing and/or editing new launches in collaboration with Guardian Australia deputy editor responsible for newsletters and membership. Using audience knowledge and a data-informed approach to identify gaps in the portfolio. Attend editorial meetings and liaise closely with desks and editors.
