Join to apply for the Assistant Curator, Asian Art role at National Gallery of Victoria Salary: $89,292 per annum + 12% superannuation Employment: Full Time, Fixed Term for 3 years Closing date for application: 5pm on 14 November 2025 About the Position You will be responsible for undertaking administration duties to support the Asian Art curatorial department operations including maintaining accurate records, budgets, schedules and contacts, drafting correspondence, processing administration, and responding to inquiries. In consultation with the Senior Curator, Asian Art, you will also support the following: The implementation of the NGV Collections Strategy, acquisitions policy and procedures, and completing associated supporting documentation and collections management processes, such as cataloguing. The planning, research, development and coordination of displays and exhibitions in accordance with departmental requirements, including participation as an active member of cross‑departmental projects and managing specific projects as required. Relevant curatorial and audience engagement initiatives, such as NGV publications and audience engagement and learning programs, including research, writing and presentations. To be successful, you will have demonstrated knowledge of Asian art supplemented with a related tertiary qualification and direct or transferable experience in curatorial practice, exhibition and project management, publishing or research within a related setting. Previous experience in administering or assisting with exhibitions, public programs or collections is desirable. Demonstrated experience using collection management databases, such as Vernon, is highly desirable. For more details, please refer to the attached role statement.
