We now have an opportunity for a Design Manager who will lead the design and development function, ensuring all projects and bundles are effectively scoped, grouped, and prioritised for successful delivery. Working collaboratively with Unitywater , and in partnership with Dormway’s trusted design partners , you’ll drive Dormway’s Development function — delivering high-quality, coordinated design outcomes that align with program objectives and strategic priorities. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate design consultants’ efforts and priorities to ensure work is designed, priced and delivered in time to support crew scheduling Understand project needs, business cases, and develop project briefs to kick-off design efforts Facilitate design workshops either internally or externally to resolve design issues Manage and maintain the design program in line with the overall Program schedule. Liaise closely with Unitywater’s Planning and Project teams, Dormway’s design partners, stakeholder engagement teams, and local councils to understand and better manage planning and approval timeframes. Attend and/or coordinate site inspections to assess on‑ground conditions and evaluate potential impacts on project costs, design requirements, and scheduling. Technical Leadership Support construction methodology reviews to agree practical and cost‑effective infrastructure solutions Collaborate with Preliminary Services and Delivery teams to ensure a seamless transition from design and planning through to execution. Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, design partners and Dormway’s subcontractors to ensure designs (and delivered solutions) meet standards Conduct basic design reviews to ensure deliverables meet scope requirements, changes and comments are incorporated Manage changes in design scope and work with internal teams to ensure impact on cost and schedule are appropriately communicated, tracked and actioned Forward Works Program Develop a strong understanding of the BBT forward works program to ensure Dormway’s order book remains aligned and supports continuous workflow for both site crews and office teams. Represent Dormway in project development activities, including governance, planning, and coordination meetings. Provide regular project updates and overviews during internal leadership meetings, ensuring accurate and timely reporting About You You’re a motivated design or project professional with a passion for delivering practical, high‑quality outcomes in the water and wastewater infrastructure space. You enjoy working collaboratively and thrive in a fast‑paced program environment. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring: Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction, preliminary services, design, or project delivery within the water and wastewater infrastructure or pipeline sectors. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook. Capable of reading and developing a project schedule in either MS Project and/or Primavera. Strong time management skills with meticulous attention to detail. Strong financial and commercial acumen. Current Driver’s License.
