Principal Business Analyst

Lead and work collaboratively with senior management on the requirements for QGIF’s core systems as Principal Business Analyst. Deliver impactful solutions through analysis, system design, and process re-engineering to support Queensland Government’s self-insurance scheme. Your New Opportunity Queensland Treasury's Queensland Government Insurance Fund (QGIF) is a self-insurance scheme for Government risks. QGIF operates similarly to a commercial insurance provider, offering services that identify liabilities across Government, ensure adequate provisioning for claims, and assist agencies in managing property and liability risks. QGIF also enables Treasury to identify and address whole-of-Government catastrophe risks. In This Role, You Will Oversee the delivery of projects and initiatives involving business processes, organisational change, and technology solutions. Collaborate with system users, QGIF management, and staff to identify system issues affecting service delivery proactively. Gather and analyse business requirements, creating detailed documentation to enable system developers to build effective digital solutions. Plan, scope, and manage system development and enhancement activities within a systems development lifecycle framework to deliver new functionality and meet business needs. Manage, plan, and execute testing across platforms, applications, and data sources, including developing testing plans for end-users and verifying business functionality, reports, and data integrity. Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, effectively interpreting and addressing stakeholder inputs. Design, plan, and deliver user education, training, and ongoing support to business areas, ensuring optimal utilisation of business systems. Foster team cohesion by working collaboratively with team members, demonstrating diligence, and embracing diversity to create an inclusive and productive work environment. Work autonomously with minimal supervision, applying critical thinking and research methodologies to resolve issues effectively. What Experience You Will Bring To be successful in this role, you will bring: Demonstrated experience with project management under tight timeframes, business process frameworks, and process reengineering. Proficiency in process mapping, documentation, and stakeholder engagement. Skills in facilitating workshops and designing business models using specialised tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities. Experience in understanding and applying Information Management framework within government organisations. Knowledge or experience in knowledgebase development and change management. While there are no mandatory qualifications for the role, significant experience with MS Visio and BPMN 2.0 will be highly regarded.
