Laundry Van Volunteer - Orange Sky Australia Organisation description: Orange Sky is a non‑profit organisation providing free mobile laundry and shower services to people experiencing homelessness and hardship. The focus is on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or feel disconnected from the community. Over the past ten years, Orange Sky has completed more than 4.4 million kilograms of laundry and provided over 52,000 showers to people in need. Most importantly though, volunteers have engaged in 640,000 hours of conversations, helping to positively connect communities all across Australia. Position description: Support people in your community by providing access to free laundry and shower services, while engaging in non‑judgmental and genuine conversation. Volunteers have one of the most important jobs at Orange Sky to connect with friends (people experiencing homelessness), through genuine and non‑judgemental conversation. Join us in our mission to Positively Connect Communities. We don't have all the answers to homelessness, but what we can provide is free clean laundry, a warm shower and genuine conversation to those doing it tough. As an OS volunteer, you will help ensure the van greets friends with an awesome group of volunteers to provide safe and reliable free laundry and shower service operations, assist in driving the van to shift (non‑mandatory) and engage in genuine and positive conversations with friends, service providers and other volunteers.
