Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Primary HV Systems Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Brisbane. Alternate locations such as Melbourne will be considered. PDG helps clients reach their business goals through a range of strong technical capabilities. Our engineering and project management and construction disciplines ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable delivery of projects globally across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors. Join our team and become part of a community that strives for positive change - providing the best solutions for our clients’ toughest challenges As the successful candidate, you will: Conduct detail design of HV substations including switchyard layouts, earthing design, cable routing, major equipment sizing and specification, single line diagrams, design calculations etc Prepare technical specification for major HV equipment, (knowledge of Transformer design is an asset) Provide technical support for procurement, construction and commissioning of HV substations Provide key discipline input to multi‑discipline project teams Participate in formal engineering review processes Have knowledge of all substation primary design tools and software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, CDEGS etc Mentor Junior engineers Follow internal QA/QC procedures to ensure high quality engineering services You will bring to the role: At least 5 years of demonstrated engineering experience in HV primary design delivering detail design of HV substations Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with the safety requirements Preparation of project specifications, design reports and other technical documentation as required Have experience in performing electrical studies pertaining to primary design (e.g. short circuit force calculations, Conductor sizing, earthing design, substation lightning protection etc) Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients on a technical and interpersonal level Ability to produce high quality design documentation A degree in electrical engineering with CPEng or equivalent is desired Why join us?
