Enquiries/applications will not be accepted via recruitment agencies About The Opportunity This position in Community Paediatrics-SWSLHD was created to respond to the significant and growing needs of the vulnerable and at-risk child and youth population in the district. You will join a dynamic and innovative multidisciplinary specialist team in Community Paediatrics, who provide high quality, evidence-based, culturally-responsive clinical assessment and care for children and families in need. The Staff Specialist Community Paediatrician will provide clinical leadership and contribute to improve the health, well-being and development of the most vulnerable children and youth in SWSLHD, through the provision of targeted, innovative clinical services as part of Resilient Kids Clinics, research and training of relevant junior staff. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience and expertise in child protection, child development/behaviour and an understanding of the population health challenges in the district. Experience in youth health, refugee health, research and evaluation would be regarded favourably. What You’ll be doing To provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care, with a focus on vulnerable children and youth. This care will be provided within clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee. Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice in the area of Community Paediatrics and Developmental/Behavioural Paediatrics Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development. Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of a public health organisation, including the provision of services to the local community, effective utilisation of resources, and preparedness to participate in the provision of health services at an LHD level, if credentialed. Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing orestablished, if requested and credentialed. Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment.
