THE ROLE

An exciting leadership opportunity exists for a highly experienced Chief Clinician to manage and oversee the delivery of Forensic Disability Clinical Services. The Chief Clinician is responsible for leading and managing the provision and coordination of clinical advice and representation of the Clinical Services program across the department and divisional areas of service in the State.

The Chief Clinician will lead four teams of clinicians who are responsible for assessing and addressing offending behaviour of children and adults with a cognitive disability across Victoria. The team delivers psychological and offender risk and needs assessments, cognitive behavioural offence specific and related treatment programs, family therapy, training and consultation services. The role will provide specialist clinical advice and leadership in a complex and dynamic environment and will identify service improvement opportunities and work collaboratively with teams across Forensic Disability Services and key stakeholders in developing continuous improvement systems and processes. The position will also have a pivotal role in the development and evaluation of innovative assessment and intervention approaches for people with cognitive disability.

The Chief Clinician will oversee the development of treatment plans for residents of the residential treatment program and monitor progress to ensure legislative and programmatic reporting requirements are met. The Chief Clinician will provide regular reporting to the Director, Forensic Disability Services. This is a critical leadership role within the broader Forensic Disability Services that will provide strong leadership for both the operational and technical management of the Forensic Disability Clinical Services program.

The Chief Clinician will also be required to have an in-depth understanding of relevant legislative frameworks and statutory requirements and will play a key role working with internal and external stakeholders including the Forensic Leave Panel, the Adult Parole Board, and civil and criminal courts and tribunals.
