Compensation for this position will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise Marsdens Law Group is looking for a Town Planning & Development Lawyer to join its Land & Environment Court team. This is an opportunity to work with our leading specialist legal practitioners on interesting, challenging and sometimes high profile matters in the fields of local government, planning, and environmental law. Opportunity Appear in the NSW Land & Environment Court (directions, call‑overs, mediations, conciliations and hearings) and support our solicitor‑advocates and counsel in contested hearings. Run your own files (with supervision) including planning appeals, valuation and rating appeals, enforcement, judicial review and compulsory land acquisition proceedings. Advise local councils, developers and landowners on the interpretation and application of local government, planning and environmental laws. Draft pleadings, affidavits and submissions, manage evidence, and engage with expert witnesses. Collaborate with highly skilled and experienced lawyers known for their excellence in the field. About you 2+ years post‑admission (NSW), with a current practising certificate. Exposure to the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and related legislation, Land and Environment Court practice notes and policies, and planning appeals. Confident written and oral communication skills. Organised, proactive and comfortable managing deadlines across multiple matters.
