School Bus Driver

Overview Suncoast Christian College is a ministry of Suncoast Christian Church and a member of the International Network of Churches Australia. Located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, the college provides education from Pre‑prep to Year 12 for over 1000 students. The college is looking for a bus driver to operate the morning and afternoon school bus runs during the school terms, with potential additional daytime trips and evening sports trips on a case‑by‑case basis. Key Requirements a current MR minimum Driver’s Licence a current Driver Authorisation a current Blue Card (paid version) Duties Drive multi‑passenger vehicles to transport students and staff as instructed. Transport college students to and from Suncoast Christian College on allocated routes at regulated stops. Transport students and staff to and from excursions, sporting venues and other destinations as requested and authorised. Transport students and adults for Goldline Bus and Charter services for outside organisations. Follow safety rules for passenger boarding, exiting and enforce seat‑belt use. Regulate heating, lighting and ventilation for passenger comfort. Read maps, follow written and verbal directions and confirm routes before travel. Assist staff with loading/unloading, supervise students on and off the bus and provide other required assistance. Report any infractions of student behaviour code to the Transport Manager and document using the appropriate form. Complete daily checks of allocated buses as instructed, fill out required forms and maintain driver logs. Ensure buses are adequately fuelt, topped up with AdBlue, swept, cleaned and maintained according to the service plan. Washing the bus at least weekly (or more when necessary) and perform a full clean, including polishing and cosmetic repairs during school closure weeks. Report mechanical faults and delays to the Transport Manager promptly. Drive with due care and attention, check off bus roll accurately, and remain up‑to‑date with Queensland Transport Road Rules. Maintain accurate entries in log sheets and time sheets daily. Carry current driver’s licence, blue card and accreditation while driving. Ensure access to all required records such as roll, log book and maintenance checklists. Maintain knowledge of first aid procedures. Present a neat, tidy appearance at all times, wearing the college blue bus driver shirt, smart dress shorts or trousers, and black leather shoes; the blue shirt must be worn for charter work. Attend meetings and professional development sessions as scheduled during college hours. Alert the Transport Manager to any enrolment, public relations, communication, procedures or professional development concerns or suggestions for improvement.
