Civic Compliance Officer (Permits and Patrols) Join the Glen Eira City Council as a Civic Compliance Officer (Permits and Patrols). This full‑time, permanent role offers a monthly rostered day off, commuter vehicle use, and a salary range of $96k – $112k per annum (plus superannuation), depending on experience. About the team The Civic Compliance Unit investigates breaches of the Glen Eira Community Local Law 2019, Domestic Animals Act 1994, Environment Protection Act 2017 and administers education and enforcement. The unit works closely with council staff, community members and external agencies. About the role We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Civic Compliance Officer to support the community and the organisation by consistently applying relevant Acts, council local laws, procedures and policies across the municipality with professionalism and respect. Key responsibilities Patrol and enforce on‑ and off‑leash areas in public places and parks. Monitor parks, reserves, picnic areas, pavilions, open‑space areas, sportsgrounds and recreation facilities to promote public safety and ensure proper use. Assess and process permit applications, issue permits and supervise the placement and conditions of permits issued by authorised holders. Take responsibility for compliance with the provisions of the Local Government Act, Council’s Local Law, Domestic Animals Act and other relevant acts and regulations. Attend to out‑of‑hours complaints from the public. Assist in the investigation and reporting of complaints received. About you You will have the ability to gain cooperation and assistance from stakeholders, clients, council staff and the public, handling enquiries and conveying information and instructions. You will play a crucial role in educating the community and encouraging adherence to regulations. We are looking for a candidate with strong customer service and well‑developed problem‑solving skills. Required qualifications and experience Certificate IV in Animal Regulation & Management or willingness to obtain. Certificate IV in Government Investigations or willingness to obtain. Knowledge of the Local Government Act, Road Safety Act, Road Rules Victoria, Litter Act, Domestic Animals Act and other relevant legislation. Current Victorian driver’s licence. Ability to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rotating roster.
