This is a senior leadership opportunity that blends executive medical oversight with operational performance leadership across a progressive and rapidly evolving Queensland health service. It provides a full range of public health services through its major hospitals in Southport (Gold Coast University Hospital), Robina, and the future Coomera Hospital, currently under development. About the Role The Director of Medical Services will be the most senior medical leader at the Robina and Southport hospital sites, providing day‑to‑day strategic oversight and operational leadership for the medical workforce. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and patient‑centred care aligned with the organisation’s strategic priorities. This role will collaborate closely with the Chief Medical Officer and report operationally to the respective General Manager. You will lead site‑based initiatives in medical workforce planning, quality and safety, clinical governance, research partnerships, and emergency response readiness. The role also serves as a key escalation point for cross‑divisional access and flow issues and will champion innovation, safety, and cultural capability across medical services. Candidate Profile We are seeking a senior medical leader with: A medical degree registrable with AHPRA and specialist registration Executive‑level experience in clinical leadership within large, complex health systems Expertise in operational performance, workforce planning, patient safety, and system reform A collaborative, inclusive leadership style grounded in values and integrity Fellowship of RACMA (or substantial progress toward) is desirable You will be a trusted leader who thrives in fast‑paced environments, can balance clinical insight with operational agility, and has a passion for advancing equitable, world‑class care.
