We are seeking Maritime Innovation Engineer based in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra. These roles are available for an immediate start. The Maritime Technologies Innovation Engineer will be part of the Innovation Group of Navantia Australia, and the role will involve collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and incorporate state-of-the-art technologies into both existing and new ship designs. The responsibilities will span across a broad spectrum of areas including, but not limited to, hull, propulsion, and ship system optimisation, improving ship survivability and ship efficiency, integration of Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS), and the management of collaborative projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in either naval architecture or mechanical engineering with mechatronics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and/or programming knowledge. As the ideal candidate, you will have : Concept Generation and Feasibility: Be the mastermind behind groundbreaking innovations : Drive the creation of revolutionary new technologies for naval maritime industry. Turn ideas into reality : Bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical applications by developing feasible plans for integrating new technologies into conceptual designs. Navigate the TRL spectrum : Manage projects across all Technology Readiness Levels, from low-TRL 3D printed prototypes that validate concepts to high-TRL, multi-year programs delivering robust, scalable innovative solutions. Project Management and Optimization: Be the conductor of innovation : Orchestrate Robotics and Autonomous Systems projects, ensuring optimal utilization of resources, mitigation of risks, and adherence to timeframes and budgets. Make data-driven decisions : Leverage your keen analytical skills to choose the most cost-effective and time-efficient technology and processes, ensuring project success. Master the balancing act : Achieve the perfect equilibrium between quality, time, and cost by tailoring your approach to the specific requirements of each project. Industry Leadership and Engagement: Become a thought leader : Engage with internal and external experts across the industry to spark creative new concepts and applications for navy including robotics and autonomy. Shape the future of the field : Share your knowledge and expertise by participating in conferences, supervising university research projects, and publishing impactful research findings. Be the driving force of innovation : Cultivate a culture of continuous learning and exploration, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in robotics and autonomy.
