Overview Legal Assistant - Insurance & Compensation in Sydney. The successful applicant will possess a minimum of 3 years\' experience and have previous experience in litigation. Responsibilities Preparing and typing legal papers and correspondence such as affidavits, writs, statements of claim, defences, summonses, complaints, briefs to counsel, motions and subpoenas from draft or dictated text. Arranging service and follow-up service of legal documents. Arranging appointments, ensuring deadlines are met, and maintaining the Lawyer\'s diary. Maintaining files and file management of substantial amounts of documents, including preparing documentation and letters as required. All documents, letters, file notes etc. should be saved on the file preferably at the conclusion of each day. Dealing with clients and client queries in a polite and friendly manner. Liaising with barristers, clients, interpreters, Principals, Lawyers and staff. Assuming general office duties (filing, photocopying, faxing, binding, etc.). Skills/Knowledge Strong attention to detail. Excellent literacy and communication skills. Professional and confident telephone manner. Polished secretarial skills and accurate typing, minimum 70 wpm. Excellent organisational and administrative ability. Advanced knowledge of MS Word for Windows; knowledge of PowerPoint and internet web skills. FileSite and CaseFlow knowledge essential.
