Operating Room Assistant – Senior Employment Type: Part Time Permanent Position Classification: Operating Room Assistant – Senior Remuneration: $34.00 per hour Hours Per Week: 32 Requisition ID: REQ About the role: Hornsby Ku‑ring‑gai Hospital Perioperative Services is seeking an Operating Room Assistant with a keen interest in providing outstanding care and support under the guidance of clinical staff throughout the perioperative journey of patients undergoing general anaesthesia. Where You’ll Be Working The Operating Theatres is a fast‑paced environment where time management, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork are fundamental in providing high quality patient care. What You’ll Be Doing Our Operating Room Assistants are an integral part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing support and care to patients during their surgical journey under the supervision of clinical staff. Within the operating theatre you will assist all clinical staff in caring for paediatric and adult patients, transferring patients, and assisting with preparation of theatres. You will provide a support service for patients undergoing surgical procedures. Within the perioperative unit you will work amongst an inclusive and friendly team of clinicians to deliver care to patients by supporting the clinicians. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. Qualifications Recent experience as an Operations Assistant or equivalent. Demonstrate competence in manual handling and operating equipment related to the position. Effective communication and time management skills. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work independently without supervision when required. Ability to problem‑solve. Willingness to learn about patient positioning equipment.
