Employment period: 31 August 2026 Grade/Band: Clerk Grade 09/10 Location: Sydney CBD, Flexible working options available Applications Close: Monday 8 December 2025 at 9:59am Role impact & contribution A pivotal role, providing strategic and operational financial advice to NSW Treasury senior managers and executives. The Senior Finance Business Partner provides financial support to Treasury and its divisions by providing transaction, budgeting and forecasting services. The role is also responsible for maintaining strong and effective partnerships with the senior executives of these divisions to promote the achievement of financial and broader organisational objectives. The role requires the ability to confidently liaise with Treasury’s senior executives as daily autonomous interaction with senior stakeholders is required. Treasury’s budget primarily relates to labour costs, and the role supports divisions to effectively use these limited resources to deliver government objectives. Proactively building robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders is paramount, as is your contribution to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy with Treasury teams and agency counterparts. What you can bring to the role In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria: Tertiary qualifications in accounting and CA or CPA qualified - at least 4 years’ post qualification experience Extensive skills and experience in management accounting including budgetary preparation/monitoring, forecasting, accruals and journals Ability to analyse and interpret complex data including transaction listings, budget and forecast information and team structures and simplify this into clear advice to senior executives Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Government and NSW Treasury accounting policies and understanding of financial accounting and reporting Ability to multitask and deliver quality work in a challenging environment including meeting tight deadlines and having limited resources Demonstrated effective stakeholder management initiatives that have led to positive outcomes with senior executives Expert skills in using SAP accounting systems to load budgets and forecasts and change profit center hierarchies Proficiency in using Treasury’s Financial Management Reporting System (PRIME) Enrich your career with the NSW Treasury You will have an invaluable opportunity to create a positive impact for the people of New South Wales.
