The role: As a Wardsperson, you will play an important role in patient care by assisting with patient hygiene, transfers, and the movement of supplies and equipment within various departments including Wards, ED, Radiology, ICU, and Cath Lab. You will receive task assignments throughout the day via buzzing devices or computer systems, requiring you to remain active and communicative.

You will undergo a comprehensive six-week training program, receiving personalised one-on-one guidance from experienced mentors. Our program includes thorough hospital orientation to ensure you are fully prepared for your role. Ongoing training is a key part of our commitment to your professional development, with regular one-on-one sessions and performance conversations to support your growth.
Please note , that in environments like ICU and Mortuary, this role involves exposure to patients that require intensive care or deceased patients that need respectful handling, which can be emotionally challenging. Candidates must be resilient and capable of managing these demands, whilst necessitating empathy and professionalism in all situations.

Where you'll be working: This is an opportunity to work for the largest employer in the region which services a population of more than 900,000 across the Hunter, New England, and Lower Mid North Coast areas. John Hunter Hospital is a Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma and teaching hospital and is the largest hospital in the Hunter New England Local Health District.

Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to work day and night shifts within a 7-day rotating roster.
