Junior Accountant - Business Services & Tax Lateral Partners is a boutique, modern accounting and advisory firm in Sydney. We support business owners, investors and families with proactive, practical and high-quality tax and business services advice. We’re a small, growing team that works closely together. You’ll work directly with Partners, gain exposure to interesting multi-entity client groups, and develop your technical and professional skills quickly – without the bureaucracy of a traditional firm. We are now seeking a Junior Accountant to join us full time , working mainly from our Sydney office. About the Role As a Junior Accountant in our Business Services team, you will: Prepare financial statements, tax returns, BAS/IAS for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals Assist with bookkeeping, reconciliations and Xero file maintenance Prepare workpapers and support seniors/managers on review tasks Assist with onboarding new clients Develop knowledge in Australian tax Receive direct training and feedback from experienced managers and partners Work Structure Full-time role (37.5 hours/week) Primarily in-office for training and development Some flexibility available once established About You We’re looking for someone who is at the beginning of their accounting career, eager to learn and ready to grow with the firm. You will ideally have: 0–2 years’ experience in public practice (both graduates and undergraduates encouraged to apply) A degree in Accounting/Commerce (or commenced/commencing) Interest in commencing CA/CPA in the future Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn tax and advisory work Good communication skills and a proactive mindset Experience with Xero is an advantage, but not essential This role suits someone who wants exposure to real client work early and a supportive team environment.
