Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established to deliver long‑duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that support Queensland's transition to a reliable, affordable and sustainable energy system. In June ****, oversight of Queensland Hydro was transferred to Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC). As the Manager, Indigenous Engagement, you will play a vital role in shaping a sustainable energy future for Queensland, delivering impactful solutions that benefit our communities and the environment. What You'll Do We are seeking a Manager, Indigenous Engagement for a maximum term 24‑month position. In this position you will be responsible for providing a high‑level of project support and engagement to maintain a productive working relationship with Traditional Owners, the local Indigenous people and their representative organisation(s) and other relevant First Nations organisations and people. Reporting to the Head of Indigenous Engagement you will play a critical role in supporting the process to secure consents including a Borumba Pumped Hydro Project Indigenous Land Use Agreement and Cultural Heritage Management Plan. Your key responsibilities will be: Provide high‑level support to the development and implementation of a local Indigenous strategy designed to build productive relationships. Provide high‑level support in engagement and negotiations with native title holders and local indigenous representative organisations to secure a Project Indigenous Land Use Agreement and Cultural Heritage Management Plan. Work with internal stakeholders to understand project value drivers, scope and schedule and ensure that work outcomes support timely project development and delivery; and ensure that constraints that flow from the regional value drivers such as the preservation of Aboriginal cultural heritage and care for country are taken account of in project business cases and investment decisions, project design and definition work and the development of project schedules. Engage with other relevant First Nations organisations and people as required to secure broad support for the project. Preparation of meeting papers, briefs, reports and other documents, for internal and external audiences. Nurture relationships with key First Nations rights holders and stakeholders and represent Queensland Hydro at external events from time to time. Who You Are To be successful in this position you will bring proven experience in supporting the negotiation of Indigenous Land Use Agreements and Cultural Heritage Management Plans, whether in Queensland or a comparable setting. Your deep understanding of Native Title and Cultural Heritage legislation, along with a strong appreciation for the history, communities, protocols and engagement principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, will be key to your success. Required experience and qualifications: Demonstrated high level experience working with First Nations communities. Experience working in infrastructure project with capital expenditure particularly in feasibility and development phases. Thorough understanding of relevant Native Title and Cultural Heritage legislation. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, communities, protocols and community engagement principles. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Law, Anthropology, Archaeology, Social Sciences are desirable. Why Qld Hydro?
