About the role Transform your career with our Transition to Clinical Nurse Specialist role – work with a fantastic team that champions your professional growth Remuneration: $58.83 - $60.76 Per Hour + Super + Salary Packaging + Incentives Employment Type: Permanent Part Time Position Classification: Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 Location: Armidale Hospital Hours Per Week: 32 Requisition ID: REQ Applications Close: Sunday, 7th December 2025 As a Registered Nurse looking to step up into leadership, the Transition to Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 in AARCS will allow you to provide advanced clinical care, leadership, and expertise in managing complex cases. You will deliver the first face‑to‑face assessment within one working day of referral, develop safe discharge plans with families and service providers, balance competing priorities, manage patients exhibiting challenging behaviours and advocate for older patients while guiding and supporting colleagues. Each day will bring opportunities to demonstrate clinical leadership, apply advanced assessment and case‑management skills, and contribute to improving outcomes for older people. You won’t be working alone. Structured supervision, mentorship and a tailored development plan will build your confidence and prepare you for CNS2 responsibilities. Supported education pathways and scholarships are available for the right candidate. You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Educators and Deputy Director of Nursing. You may be offered a temporary Registered Nurse contract up to two years to complete the required postgraduate study if you do not currently hold the relevant qualification. Applicants who already hold a CNS2 qualification will be given first consideration. The Acute to Aged Related Services (AARCS) team provides specialised care for older patients in acute inpatient settings with complex needs. The service delivers patient‑centred, comprehensive assessment, care planning and coordination to enable safe and timely discharges. Working within a collaborative, supportive culture, you’ll be part of a team that consistently advocates for older people and their families, ensuring their needs remain at the centre of care. About you You’re a compassionate, motivated Registered Nurse ready to specialise in aged and complex care. You have curiosity, initiative and a genuine passion for supporting older people and their families. You value teamwork, communication and continuous learning, and you’re ready to grow into a leadership role that makes a tangible difference in patient outcomes.
