As English Coordinator, you will lead the strategic planning, design, and delivery of our English programs, while managing and mentoring a team of high-performing educators. Reporting to the Head of Secondary, you will play a pivotal role in developing scalable, outcomes-focused academic offerings that meet the evolving needs of students and support the growth of Matrix nationally. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning and implementation of English courses for Years 7–12 (including HSC-level English). Oversee the development of in-class content, homework, assessments, and digital resources. Analyse student performance data and market trends to guide curriculum improvements and product development. Manage and mentor a team of educators and content developers to foster a high-performance culture. Drive teacher development through coaching, training, and performance management. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and staff growth initiatives. Strategic Development Contribute to the strategic planning of Matrix’s academic offerings. Collaborate with academic leaders to build scalable teaching frameworks across all campuses. Ensure pedagogy, engagement, and academic rigour remain at the heart of the department’s growth. Operational Oversight Plan class timetables and staffing allocations. Monitor departmental performance through data insights, student feedback, and quality assurance measures. Growth and Innovation Identify and develop courses and programs based on emerging student learning needs. Lead enhancements in assessment and progress tracking to deliver actionable feedback in a timely fashion. Help shape future tech initiatives including LMS upgrades and the implementation of AI learning tools. Qualifications & Experience Tertiary qualifications in English, Education, the Humanities, or a related field. Proven success teaching secondary English, including Years 11–12. Experience in academic leadership and team development within an education environment. Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment development, and innovative pedagogy. Tech-savvy and open to implementing AI-powered teaching tools. (Desirable) Experience in communications, media, or journalism, particularly in writing and content creation.
