About the Opportunity As our new Specialist Test Engineer – Combat Systems, you will lead the establishment and management of ASC’s Combat Systems Test Engineering capability in support of nuclear‑powered submarines. You will oversee complex testing and certification activities, ensuring operational safety during maintenance periods and integrating multiple stakeholders across Australian and international defence organisations. Responsibilities Establish and manage ASC’s Combat Systems Test Engineering capability. Plan and certify shipboard and pier‑side combat systems tests. Supervise Lead Test Engineers and ensure compliance with standards. Act as the main liaison with defence stakeholders and vendors. Diagnose and resolve complex combat systems issues. Integrate returning engineers and build future sustainment capability. About you 5+ years’ experience with Naval Ships Combat Systems operations. Skilled in engineering, planning, and coordinating overhaul, repair, and modification of combat systems equipment. Proven ability to provide engineering direction for installation and operation of combat systems. Experienced in supervising teams within Naval Combat Systems maintenance environments. Strong track record in implementing combat systems test evolutions. Effective in managing complex stakeholders and working across organisations. Adaptable to dynamic environments with experience in international defence engagement. This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
