At Northparkes At Northparkes, we are known for having innovative, technical and collaborative people. The operations include block caving, sub-level caving and open pit and were the first mine in Australia to use the block cave mining method. About the role Are you ready to take the next step in your underground mining career? We're on the lookout for a reliable, safety-focused Leading Hand to support our Development Supervisor in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality underground development activities at Northparkes. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll be the go-to person on shift, supporting the crew, coordinating tasks, and keeping things running smoothly underground. You'll play a key part in maintaining our strong safety culture, mentoring team members, and ensuring work is completed to plan. What you'll be doing: Act as 2IC to the Development Supervisor and support daily operations. Lead by example in safety, housekeeping, and work quality. Coordinate development activities including ventilation, ground support, services installation, and logistics. Support shift planning and task allocation to ensure targets are met. Mentor and coach crew members to build capability and teamwork. Conduct pre‑task risk assessments and participate in safety interactions and toolbox talks. Liaise with other departments and contractors to ensure smooth execution of scheduled works. About you You're a reliable team player who's not afraid of hard work and knows your way around underground operations. You've got the tickets, the attitude, and the drive to get the job done. What we're chasing: Based in Parkes or keen to make the move. Minimum 5 years underground mining experience, ideally in development. Strong understanding of underground mining processes and safety systems. Working at Heights, First Aid, and Security Clearance to handle explosives. Proven ability to lead by example and support team performance. Solid communication and organisational skills. A current "C" Class Driver's Licence.
