Over the past 25 years, Aurora and GiveOUT have paved the way for a stronger sector, collectively distributing over $3.5 million to 200 LGBTQIA+ community organisations and initiatives, and together, we’re unstoppable. RGA Mission We support community-led solutions by mobilising funding, growing skills and expanding the knowledge base. Our strategic pillars FUNDING: Grow funding to LGBTIQ+ community organisations. CAPACITY BUILDING: Build the capacity of the LGBTIQ+ sector to resource itself. ADVOCACY & RESEARCH: Advocate for more funding to LGBTIQ+ causes. About the Role The RGA Board is made up of ten (10) volunteer Directors, including a Chair and Deputy Chair, who provide governance and oversight for the organisation. All Directors hold office for an initial term of two years. Management of RGA operations and implementation of our strategic plan is led by our CEO, who will be in attendance for Board meetings. Duties and responsibilities of RGA Directors Ensure that the organisation is well managed, especially in the founding years, noting that the major role for RGA Directors is to govern and set the strategic direction for RGA. Bring information and expertise from their networks and knowledge base to contribute to strong governance and informed decision-making in the best interests of RGA. Ensure that RGA acts in an ethical, solvent and financially responsible way. Actively participate in quarterly and ad-hoc Board meetings, and committees as relevant. Oversight and strategic support of activities aligned with portfolios such as fundraising, marketing, partnerships and community engagement, events, risk, finance, and legal. Voluntary duties at key RGA events including guest relations; fundraising, donor advocacy and stewardship. Advocacy for the RGA brand and philanthropic objectives within personal and professional networks. Expectations of all RGA Directors RGA Directors must consider and oversee RGAs interests and are obliged to act independently and ethically to secure the continuing wellbeing and development of our national organisation. Commitment to RGAs vision and objectives, and a willingness to contribute and collaborate in a spirit of inclusion and community. Diligent reading of all board papers and financial documents. Declaration of any conflicts of interests. Help establish and expand the positive reputation of RGA as a trusted philanthropic intermediary in the LGBTIQ+ and philanthropic communities. On average, spend seven (7) hours per month on Board matters. The Chair of the Board and Chair of any Sub-Committees will spend significantly more time. Selection criteria Knowledge of, experience with, and understanding of LGBTIQ+ communities. Previous experience in board management, governance, and strategic planning. Strategic management experience in business, government, consultancy or non-profit organisations. Proven experience in the philanthropic sector, non‑profit sector or allied organisations. Passionate about growing RGA to create better funding outcomes for LGBTIQ+ communities and organisations. Risk management experience desirable. Fundraising and sponsorship experience desirable. We would especially love to hear from LGBTIQ+ people who are from Culturally and Racially Marginalised communities, First Nations peoples, Sistergirls and Brotherboys, Trans and Gender Diverse people, and people with a disability.
