Job Overview The Field Service Technician provides onsite technical support, maintenance and troubleshooting services for cryogenic equipment and systems for customers within the assigned region. The role requires hands‑on experience, strong knowledge of cryogenic systems and excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work independently. Cryogenic systems include Air Separation Units, Cryogenic vessels, Cryogenic Pumps, Vaporizers and Piping. Responsibilities Provide expert onsite technical guidance and support to customers on the installation, operation and maintenance of cryogenic equipment and systems. Identify and diagnose issues with cryogenic systems, utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques to ensure efficient problem resolution while minimizing downtime. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance activities on cryogenic systems, including inspections, calibration and replacement of components or parts as necessary. Respond to customer requests for on‑site repairs promptly and effectively, utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and resources to ensure timely resolution of issues. Conduct training sessions for customers on the safe and proper operation of cryogenic equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with OEM and industry standards and regulations. Prepare timely field trouble reports and maintain accurate and comprehensive service records, including equipment history, repair reports and customer interaction details. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for both yourself and customers during service visits. Stay updated with the latest OEM technological advancements and industry trends related to cryogenic systems through ongoing training and self‑development, applying this knowledge to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction. Perform corrective maintenance tasks at customer sites as required. State‑wide, interstate and occasional overseas travel. Qualifications Mechanical competency: pipe fitting, valve operation, instrumentation basics, industrial maintenance, pump understanding and repairs. Technical expertise: ability to learn, understand and apply specialized knowledge of cryogenic systems, equipment, and processes. Problem‑solving skills: analyze complex technical issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner. Safety focus: demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by adhering to established protocols, procedures and industry standards. Communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication, able to convey technical information to non‑technical individuals in a clear and concise manner. Adaptability: work in diverse environments and adapt to dynamic and changing work conditions. Organizational skills: manage multiple tasks, projects and priorities simultaneously. Customer focus: strong commitment to customer satisfaction and relationship building. Teamwork: collaborate effectively with colleagues from different departments. Continuous learning: stay up to date with the latest advancements and best practices in cryogenic engineering. Trade and Certification Requirements Trade qualified to a minimum Certificate III. Australian Driver’s License. White Card. Working at Heights – desired. Confined Space – desired. First Aid – desired / will be provided. Work Environment Work primarily at customer sites as well as in shop environments as needed. Experience 1–2 years’ experience with cryogenic / oil & gas / industrial gas equipment. Pump / motor experience a plus. Field service experience highly desirable. Experience with onsite repairs, installations and overhauls preferred. Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues. Experience in planning and organizing field service activities, including equipment inspections and preventive maintenance. Physical Demands Stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls. Use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, copiers, etc. Lift 50–100 pounds. Work in both office and shop environments at customer and company sites. Overtime and on‑call may be necessary; travel up to 80% to meet customer needs. Travel and extended stays at customer work sites. Job will generally be performed at customer site, with travel to client offices, production facilities or industrial/construction job sites. A valid driver’s license is required; a clean driving abstract may be required for travel between facility locations and client offices. A valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required. Ability to perform effectively in high‑stress situations. Candidates must not have safety issues with heights or confined spaces. Safety Complete safety training requirements. Participate in other training as directed by the company or manager. Wear Nikkiso approved PPE as needed. Ensure all safety requirements and PPE requirements are enforced with others as appropriate.
