Project Officer – Specialist Security NSW Department of Communities and Justice Location: Parramatta Employment type: Ongoing full-time role Salary: $113,574.00 pa – $125,720.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading Your role The role plays a critical role in safeguarding the operational security of DCJ’s Central Offices. This position ensures robust access control, identity governance, and compliance with security policies, while supporting the delivery of innovative security infrastructure projects. It’s a fantastic opportunity for a candidate to work on high-impact initiatives that directly contribute to the safety and integrity of government operations. The role offers exposure to cutting‑edge security technologies, cross‑functional collaboration, and the chance to influence strategic security outcomes across multiple sites. What You’ll Do The Project Officer will manage and monitor access control systems, maintain large‑scale identity databases, and ensure compliance with security standards. Responsibilities include leading pilot programmes, supporting the design and commissioning of security infrastructure projects, conducting risk assessments, and implementing mitigation strategies. The role also involves stakeholder engagement, training, and maintaining detailed documentation for audits and operational changes. Problem‑solving and continuous improvement are integral parts of the day‑to‑day work. The successful candidate will join the Corporate Security Team, working closely with the Workplace Hubs Team and the wider Infrastructure & Assets units. The team culture is collaborative, professional, and focused on delivering secure, efficient, and innovative solutions. You’ll work alongside experienced security, project management, and operations professionals in a supportive environment that values integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement. What We’re Looking For Strong technical knowledge of electronic security systems and identity/access governance, coupled with experience managing large‑scale operational security systems. A background in risk assessment and compliance frameworks is essential, along with familiarity with project management principles. Desirable qualifications include Security and Risk Management certifications and a Class 2A Security Consultant Licence (or willingness to obtain). Key skills include analytical problem‑solving, stakeholder communication, and the ability to lead pilot programmes and scale solutions. Adaptability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to security challenges will set the candidate apart.
