Role Purpose The Faith Group Outreach Coordinator will build and strengthen relationships between DDEC and local faith-based communities. The role will support faith groups to engage with environmental and sustainability issues, recognising the important role faith communities play in fostering care for Creation, stewardship of Country, and justice for future generations. Key Responsibilities Engagement & Relationship‑Building: Connect with churches, mosques, temples, and other faith‑based communities in the Darling Downs region. Develop respectful, ongoing relationships with faith leaders and members. Support dialogue around sustainability, environmental stewardship, and climate justice in faith contexts. Program & Event Support: Assist in organising faith‑focused workshops, forums, or events that highlight the connections between faith and environment. Identify opportunities for faith groups to participate in DDEC campaigns, community tree‑plantings, or climate advocacy. Share stories of faith‑based environmental action through DDEC’s communication channels. Resource Development: Research and share resources on eco‑theology, faith‑based climate action, and environmental sustainability. Help prepare tailored materials (talking points, reflections, fact sheets) for use in different faith contexts. Collaboration: Work with the DDEC Coordinator and campaign teams to integrate faith voices into wider advocacy. Build partnerships with regional, state, and national networks of faith‑based environmental organisations. Skills & Attributes Strong communication and relationship‑building skills. Respectful and inclusive approach to engaging with diverse faith traditions. Interest or background in faith, spirituality, or community organising (desirable but not required). Passion for sustainability, biodiversity, and climate justice. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team. Time Commitment Approx. 35 hours per week (flexible, remote or in‑person). Attendance at DDEC volunteer team meetings (online, Monday mornings). Support for occasional community events, workshops, or forums.
