Key Responsibilities Position Overview This podiatry position is based in Broome and performs a vital role in delivering podiatry services for the West Kimberley region, with outcomes consistent with the organisation’s strategic plan, operational plan, and funding agreements. Service Delivery Provide evidence-based, comprehensive podiatry services in the West Kimberley region in line with service delivery requirements. Contribute to the development of podiatry clinical practice and support the maintenance of policies and guidelines. Participate in performance measures, including the recording and reporting of statistics to evaluate service quality and outcomes. Accountable for autonomous clinical decision-making in the provision of safe and efficient client care for complex and varied caseloads across multiple sites and providers. Deliver services under fee-for-service, Medicare, or other local funding arrangements as directed. Participate in capacity-building activities supporting improved foot health in the region. Utilise strategies that strengthen the client’s capacity to achieve goals and self-manage. Apply systems that prioritise clients according to clinical risk. Conduct all client, consumer, training, and educational interactions with respect for culture and heritage. Undertake other reasonable duties within qualifications and capability as directed by management. Community Engagement Coordinate community operations including information dissemination. Identify and participate in regional opportunities to promote podiatry services and organisational objectives. Innovation and Development Monitor the broader operating environment for opportunities to better address local health issues, particularly through integration of podiatry into primary health care. Research topical issues to inform organisational and sector understanding of podiatry-related programs and initiatives. Support regional training and education for health professionals on prevention of diabetes-related foot ulcers and best practice care. Health Program Development Liaise with local providers and communities to refine and improve services and explore opportunities to integrate podiatry into primary care. Build a sustainable service by partnering with regional health providers and supporting upskilling of local workers. Contribute to formal training courses or education forums as required. All staff are expected to conduct activities in line with health and safety legislation and best practice. New employees are required to complete a National Police Clearance and a Working with Children Check for Western Australia. All staff are responsible for contributing to quality, safety, and risk management and have the authority to identify non-conformances and suggest improvements. Services should be delivered with consideration for environmental sustainability and resource efficiency. Selection Criteria Bachelor of Podiatry (or equivalent) and current registration with AHPRA. Current professional membership with APODA. Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate podiatry programs, with at least 12 months of clinical experience preferred. Demonstrated experience working with high-risk podiatry clients, including education, neurovascular assessment, and wound care. High-level interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Proven ability to prioritise workloads and work independently, demonstrating sound time management. Evidence of ongoing professional development and knowledge of current podiatry practice. Understanding experience using primary health care principles; ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work with Indigenous clients in a culturally sensitive and flexible manner. Demonstrated ability to follow service quality standards and workplace safety procedures. Willingness to travel intra- and interstate (including by light aircraft and 4WD); possession of a “C class” driver’s licence. Experience and Qualifications Required You will have experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse people and managing the high-risk foot in community settings. A passion for rural and remote health care and experience working with Aboriginal people will be highly regarded.
