Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Program: Mental Health Services Department: AMHRU - Mid West Enterprise Agreement: Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sect Job Function: Allied Health Professionals Project: Occupational Therapist Location: Sunshine Hospital Salary: OT Grade 2 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Allied Health professional to join the Secure Extended Care Unit 5 – Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (AMHRU) team. As the Grade 2 OT, you will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to collaboratively deliver Best Care to our consumers, and champion high-quality, coordinating case management, consumer-centred care. It plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional psycho-social work alongside with consumers that has complex needs whilst providing support to staffs. Key Responsibilities Build a therapeutic alliance with the consumer and family/carers and maximise participation in collaborative recovery and wellness planning Work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, to provide high quality, evidence-based interventions that support consumers with complex mental health needs in the SECU setting. Provide Occupational Assessments inclusive of Functional Capacity assessments to identify occupational performance issues and Sensory modulation preferences. Provision of activity and participation focused treatment approaches and support and training to other staff in these approaches. (sensory modulation, driving, vocation and group work interventions) Contribute to the orientation, education and training of other team members and pre-qualified, student and Entry Level Occupational Therapists. Coordinate the group program, including evaluation of groups, multidisciplinary meetings with staff to review the group program and rostering of staff to facilitate groups. Contribute expertise in clinical meetings and support the team and other staff in their clinical decision making. About You Key qualification must the applicant has a Registration under the Australian Health Practitioner National Law Act (2009) with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia Has an approved Degree from a recognized school of Occupational Therapy of other qualifications for eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapy (VIC) Western Health is one of the largest healthcare providers in Victoria, caring for a vibrant, diverse and rapidly growing community of one million people in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
