Policy OfficersOur client, a busy state government department located in Brisbane is seeking a number of candidates to join their Policy and Legislation Division. All roles are 6-month fixed-term contracts, commencing as soon as possible.The Roles:AO6 Senior Revenue AdvisorProvide verbal and written advice to stakeholders on novel and complex interpretation and practice issuesUndertake research, prepare papers and make recommendationsPrepare and issue private and legislated rulingsReview and quality assure internal and external mattersCoach and mentor division staff, challenge practices and identify strategies to support future business directions and ensure compliance with established guidelines.AO5 Revenue AdvisorMake recommendations and issue rulings relating to corporate reconstructionsPrepare public rulings and practice statementsUndertake research, provide advice to stakeholders and review and quality assure internal and external artefactsResearch and maintain working knowledge of current laws, assist with internal strategy and team development and establish strong stakeholder relationshipsAO6 Senior Policy OfficerDevelop policy proposals, analyse and review the application of relevant laws and legislation and identify provisions which require amendmentsInstruct, consult and negotiate on the drafting of legislation and compare legislation of other jurisdictionsPrepare briefing, submission, reporting, correspondence and consult on the implementation of recommended outcomesMentor and coach team and ensure compliance with record-keeping standards.AO4 Policy OfficerAssist in developing and drafting of policy proposals, analyse and review applications of relevant laws and legislation related to changing commercial circumstancesIdentify provisions that require amendment and compare to other jurisdictions for continual improvementPrepare briefing, submission, reporting, correspondence and consult on the implementation of recommended outcomesActively participate in projects and ensure compliance with all standards and guidelines.About You:To be considered for these roles, you will have a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in either a legal advisory (private sector, government legal or government internal review) or government policy development environment. A legal qualification is mandatory.
