ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Manager Hydrographic Surveyor, the role will assist in performing hydrographic surveys to satisfy the business requirements of the Port of Melbourne (PoM) and provide technical support to PoM projects on issues relating to Hydrographic Survey. RESPONSIBILITIES Be responsible for collection, collation, review, analysis and archival of data from sensors including tide gauges, wave buoys, current meters, SONAR and other deployments. Be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, often under difficult working conditions in small vessels working in adverse weather conditions, and ensure safe work practices are employed in the conduct of all hydrographic surveying projects. Participate in relevant OH&S and Marine Pollution Response training as appropriate (both on and off vessel). Oversee the positioning of structures and navigation aids. QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Surveying or equivalent qualification. Knowledge in hydrographic surveying. Knowledge in the use of survey software and equipment. Knowledge in hydrographic, land and tidal surveying. Knowledge of marine pollution response procedures.
