Case Worker Homestay - Housing and Homelessness Services (Permanent) SCHADS Award Social & Community Services Level 4 As part of the HomeStay team (within the Housing and Homelessness Stream) this position will support tenants with an existing tenancy within the private, public or community housing sector who may have faced a crisis which has placed their tenancy at risk. The HomeStay team supports individuals, couples and families to maintain their current housing by addressing issues such as rental arrears, property concerns, conflicts that could lead to eviction such as health, employment or family related challenges. As a Case Worker you will support tenants for up to 6 months and will work with them within their home. HomeStay empowers tenants through personalised support, helping them build essential life skills, connect with community resources and understand their tenancy rights and responsibilities. To be successful you will need Tertiary qualifications in Community / Human Services Prior experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and in providing support, case work and or practical assistance to people experiencing homelessness and or a crisis. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with people experiencing homelessness, distress, disconnection from family, domestic/family violence, alcohol or other drug challenges and or mental health issues. Experience in risk assessment, crisis management, incident reporting and skills in navigating solutions to challenges. Ability to coordinate / deliver activities that support development of practical, relational and or tenancy related living skills. Ability to collaborate with homelessness, health and medical services, First Responders and other service providers. Good communication, numeracy, administration, data entry and computer skills and the ability to learn IT systems. Ability (and willingness) to comply with policies, procedures, established practices and contract deliverables. Experience working with First Nations people, families, Organisations and communities Compliance Evidence of relevant Tertiary Qualifications Community / Human Services Satisfactory outcome of a current (less than 3 months old) National Criminal History Check Blue Card (QLD working with children card) Current QLD drivers’ licence ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent Out of hours work may be required from time to time Required to transport clients and or to visit clients in their place of residence or within another setting. Ability to undertake local area / regional travel is required.
