At Vanilla Blue, we're reimagining the typical school canteen with our inspiring, nourishing, and freshly prepared seasonal menu. We're making the canteen the heart of the school, a hub of activity serving great food enjoyed by both students and staff daily. We're seeking an experienced Site Cook to join our team in a school canteen on the Lower North Shore. This role is ideal for a someone with food preparation experience who wants school holidays off, or someone looking for a better work-life balance. Permanent Part-Time position Shifts: Monday to Friday, between 6.30am - 2.30pm Hours: 38 hours per week Pay: $35 per hour + super Open during school term: 38 weeks per year Start date: End of January 2026 Responsibilities Menu Preparation: Preparing and packing hot meals, daily core menu items, and seasonal specials Stock Management: Ordering, rotation, and stocktaking Hygiene and Safety: Adherence to food hygiene and safety practices Catering: Onsite canteen catering, and small events as required Service: Fast, effective service with a positive attitude Efficient Kitchen Operations: Adherence to Canteen Cook operational timeline, COGS control, and food safety standards. Close to public transport - Train within a few mins walk (no on-site parking) Great company culture in a rapidly growing business Seasonal, cafe style menu Desired Experience 2 years' experience in a commercial kitchen, in catering or batch food preparation Previous experience in school or university kitchens is highly regarded Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail Ability to multitask and manage time effectively Punctuality, reliability, and teamwork Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (minimum Cert 3) or equivalent If you're passionate about wholesome, delicious food and want to join our energetic team, please apply.
