3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Overview Your role within this QLD state department will support the department to partner with Queensland Government agencies to deliver their core services, by providing state‑wide planning, building and maintenance services that utilize local suppliers along with the department’s tradespeople and apprentices. The primary purpose of the position is to provide a high level of skill, leadership, and professional knowledge in the delivery of project management consulting services. The successful applicant will demonstrate experience in the building and construction industry. Whilst not mandatory, experience with Correctional, Fire, Justice and Police projects would be highly regarded. What You Will Be Doing Ensuring activities are implemented effectively, managed, and coordinated for the delivery of capital works across a range of programs. Manage relationships and stakeholder engagement to ensure the effective delivery and profitability of capital works building programs. Managing, monitoring, leading, training, and mentoring the activities, performance and quality assurance procedures of Project Managers and other staff within the Capital Works Team. Coordinating and managing all aspects of building project implementation activities including pre‑design, design, documentation, contract administration and post‑construction activities, and assisting in taking responsibility for the quality, cost, cash‑flow, timeliness, and suitability of the building product delivered to the client. Coordinating the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers, and other business units in the achievement of project objectives. Coordinating regional capital‑related reports, including the RED report. Providing a high level of contract coordination in respect to traditional and non‑traditional contract systems. Ensuring individual project team members (external or departmental staff) involved in the provision of pre‑design, design, documentation, contract administration, and post‑construction services to clients are engaged, communicated with, and coordinated effectively. Leading negotiations with consultants, local authorities, clients, and contractors to ensure value‑for‑money solutions are identified and delivered. Utilizing experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken. This requires interfacing with clients on a day‑to‑day basis. Controlling variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects of project management and performing project audits to establish project team performance as appropriate. Assisting the Program Manager/Principal Project Manager to determine attainable fees for services under your control and, where necessary, generating approvals for the billing of clients. Acting as Superintendent or Principal’s Representative (where necessary) under construction contracts in accordance with the state department’s quality assurance policies and procedures, and ensuring Superintendent’s Representatives act in accordance with these policies and procedures. Mandatory Position Requirements Proven knowledge and experience working in building and construction industry project management Queensland Drivers License – Class C Open Additional Requirements And/or Highly Desirable Skills Experience with Correctional, Fire, Justice and Police projects (highly regarded but not mandatory) Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Certificate IV Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning, Quantity Surveying) and/or AIPM RegPM or equivalent certification (highly regarded but not mandatory) If you are an experienced project manager & looking for your next contract opportunity to set yourself up stepping into 2026, this is the opportunity for you.
