We are seeking a compassionate and caring Hospital Chaplain to join our dedicated team. The successful applicant will provide essential spiritual, religious, and emotional support to patients, their families, and staff members, contributing to the holistic care environment of the hospital. The role requires a resilient and empathetic individual who can work with people from all faiths and beliefs, as well as those with no specific religious affiliation. Key Responsibilities Provide person-centred pastoral and spiritual care to patients, their families, and staff during times of crisis, grief, and uncertainty. Offer emotional support, helping individuals navigate difficult news, such as terminal diagnoses or unexpected complications. Facilitate or perform religious practices as requested, such as bedside prayers and communion. Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals as required. Advocate for patients' spiritual needs and mediate between patients, families, and healthcare providers as required. Provide support to hospital staff. Maintain accurate and confidential records of pastoral care interactions and activities in line with hospital protocols. Participate in on-call and after-hours assistance as required by the chaplaincy roster. Essential Qualifications and Skills A relevant degree or diploma in Theology, Ministry, Counselling, or a related qualification. Experience in ministry and pastoral care. Exceptional active listening and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations. High level of empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude towards individuals from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage emotionally charged situations with professionalism and resilience. A demonstrated commitment to professional supervision, reflective practice, and self-care. Eligibility for relevant checks, such as a Police Clearance and Working With Children (WWC) Check.
